Guilin Local Flavor

The Cate without withstand Sponge cake 松糕
 It is the traditional  snake of Guilin, which is vacant  inside. The shape is like a column with a sharp head. The color is light yellow. They are usually eaten at a happy event to show the wish and the blessing for a happy life. The main material of the sponge cake is sticky rice and polished japonica rice. Slice it while eating, put them on a lotus leaf and taste them slowly. They are soft and delicious with pleasant  fragrant.

Waternut Cake 马蹄糕 
The shape is like a horse's hoof, and is made of waternut flour with sugar, milk and coco as dressing. It tastes soft and nice. They are usually sold in the cool season.  

Glutinous Rice Dumpling 粽子  

  The glutinous rice dumpling in Guilin is made of sticky rice with mungbean flour, Chinese chestnut, Lipu taro, peanuts, black bean, and pork inside. It smells very pleasant, tastes soft and nice. According to their shape, there are triangle rice dumpling, wrap rice dumpling, pillow rice dumpling and cool rice dumpling(which is eaten with sugar), etc.

                            
Bowl Cake 碗糕
  It is mainly made of stricky rice flour, polished japonica rice flour and brown sugar. The color is bright. It's like a flower at the top of the cake. It is loverly and tasty.

                          
Pickled Vegetable 酸菜
  The pickled Chinses cabbages are made of selected vegetable, bloated with vinegar and sugar. It tastes sour and sweet. 
                  
Gingko stewed with Old Duck 白果炖老鸭
   Stew gingko and old duck with slow fire. The characteristics are: the soup is light and slinghtly bitter, the pulp of gingko is fragrant and the meat is sweet. It's nutritious. It's top-grade tonic for stimulating the appetite, clearing phlegm, relieving cough and replenishing qi according to Chinese traditional medicine.

                            

Chicken Balls Stir-fried with Chufa 马蹄炒鸡球  
  It is made of chicken, chufa, wet pasania fungus by stir frying. It is tasty and crisp but not greasy.
                   

Lotus Leaf Steamed Mung bean and Meat 荷叶粉蒸肉
  It is made of streaky pork with skin, mung bean, lotus Leaf, preserved bean-curd of Guilin and garlic. The characteristics are: the color is green and yellow, the lotus leaf is fragrant, it soft and tasty, fat but not greasy.
                                
 Lotus Leaf Duck
荷叶鸭
 It is made of lotus Leaf duck and other ingredients. It has the delicate fragrance of lotus leaf. The meat of the duck is soft and tender with lots of other ingredient. It has different tastes.

                             

Quick Fried Li River Shrimp 爆炒漓江虾 
  It is cooked by frying the Li River shrimp with a little rice wine in a quick way. The color is bright red like a gem. It tastes crisp and soft. Maybe the sweetness and pureness of Li River can also be tasted.
                      

Sour and Spicy Rice Flower Fish禾花鱼 
  It is made of fish from the paddyfield, red capsicum, tomato, wild mint, wild edible fungus with strong fire. The oily fish is extremely delicious.
                            

Grosvenor Momordica罗汉果  
  Grosvenor Momordicas are mainly produced in Yongfu county and Lingui county. The shape of the fruit is elliptic or globose. The color of the ripe fruit is dark brown. There are light yellow pappi on the surface of the fruits. 
                               

Maidenhair Fruit白果
   is also named Ginkgo. It is one of the oldest plant in the world, thus it gets the name"living fossil". The fruit of ginkgo is like little apricot, and the stone is silver white.
