Zhuang brocade, defined by dense local ethnic style, is the most rnowned and enjoys a long history, made in Tang and Song dynasties and flourishing in Ming and Qing dynasties. Zhuang brocade is weaved with cotton yarnn as the warp and 5-color thread as the woof and noted for its floweriness, novel design and durability. There are traditional designs as fylfot cross, water wave, cloud-scrolls and chrysnthemum and other over 20 patterns like butterflies with flower, double dragons with a pearl and lion rolling a ball. Zhuang brocade has an extensive application, for example, used as bed blanket, bed cover, apron, back beld , girdle, carrier bag, headdress and adornment.
